The primary reason that prior efforts to bolster financial services did not achieve the impact envisioned was due to challenges around implementation.
To ensure that does not happen again, the BVI Government has invested in a small but exceptional team to drive progress and deliver results across each priority initiative, including financial services delivery. The unit reports to the highest level of government to cut through bureaucracy, and not only manages performance but also helps resolve problematic situations and take corrective actions to address poor performance. More than any other initiative, the Delivery Unit is resourced to preserve the momentum of the initiatives get off the ground and keep moving forward.
The Delivery Unit is the heart of the financial services delivery transformation. Its role is to monitor, drive, and debottleneck progress across all initiatives and serve as the central coordination point for all initiative leads and working teams. Similar units have been deployed across the globe, for example in Chile, the United Kingdom, and Malaysia, to drive significant and quantifiable results in a short period of time. We have the opportunity to deliver similarly bold results by investing in a small but talented team.
